Our Story

Breath, fire,
and time.

AmaVetro is a small European atelier of hand-blown glass and ceramic miniatures. Every piece is made by hand in our family workshop in Europe, and brought to a private boutique in Miami, Florida — where the work meets the world.

N° 01 · Origin

A European furnace, a Miami doorway.

The first AmaVetro furnace was lit in the year 2000, in a small workshop in Europe where our family had been working with glass for four generations. Our grandfather taught our father; our father taught us. The fire taught all of us patience.

Twenty-five years later, the same hands still gather, marver, blow, and sign every piece. Nothing leaves the studio without passing through them — no moulds, no machines, no shortcuts.

From the workshop in Europe the work travels to Miami, where AmaVetro Group keeps a private boutique on Biscayne. Each piece you find on this site was made — by hand, from raw silica to signed base — in our European atelier, then carried across the Atlantic to you.

N° 02 · The Process

Six movements, one breath.

  1. 01

    Gather.

Molten glass — held at 2,100°F — is gathered from the furnace onto a steel rod. The first weight, the first heat, the first decision.

  2. 02

    Marver.

The glass is rolled on a steel marver to centre and shape the gather. Colour bars, frit, or powder are picked up here, fused into the body.

  3. 03

    Blow.

Air is sent down the rod with a steady breath. The bubble grows; the form begins. This is the only moment that cannot be redone.

  4. 04

    Shape.

Wet wood blocks, paper pads, jacks, and tweezers refine the silhouette. The glass returns to the glory hole again and again to stay workable.

  5. 05

    Anneal.

The finished piece is placed in an annealing oven and cooled slowly over 18–48 hours. Without this step, the glass would shatter from internal stress.

  6. 06

    Sign.

Once cool, the punty mark is ground, the base polished, and the maker’s mark engraved. The piece is photographed and sent on its way.

N° 03 · Material

Honest glass, honest fire.

Lead-free European glass.

We use only certified lead-free crystal and borosilicate from European glassworks. Safe to use, safe to live with.

Colour in the body.

Pigments are fused into the molten glass, never painted on the surface. The colour cannot chip, fade, or peel.

Hand-fired ceramic.

The maisons are sculpted from white stoneware, kiln-fired twice, and hand-glazed in small batches.

Recyclable, by design.

Both glass and ceramic are 100% recyclable. Our studio scrap is re-melted into our colour bars.

N° 07 · Questions

Things people quietly ask.

Are these pieces really one-of-a-kind?+

Yes. Every piece is hand-blown or hand-sculpted from start to finish; no two are exactly alike. We do not produce duplicates, only variations within the same series.

How long does an order take?+

Items in stock are dispatched within 3–5 business days from Miami. Commissions are made to order and typically take 4–8 weeks depending on complexity.

Do you ship internationally?+

Yes — we ship worldwide. Glass is double-boxed and fully insured. Tracking is provided for every order.

Can I commission a custom piece?+

Absolutely. Send us a note describing the form, palette, and dimensions you have in mind, and we will reply with a sketch and an estimate.

How should I care for my glass?+

Hand-wash with warm water and mild soap. Avoid sudden temperature changes. The colour is fired in, so it will not fade — but the surface is best wiped with a soft cloth.

Do you offer trade or wholesale?+

We work with a small number of design studios, hotels, and galleries. Email amavetro@gmail.com with your enquiry and we will send our trade catalogue.
